Rokua National Park
Located in the Northern Ostrobothnia regions of Finland, in the areas of Muhos, Vaala and Utajärvi.
- The park covers an area of 11 square kilometres and was established in 1956.
- The area protect the valuable habitats and terrain of the Rokuanvaara ridge formation.
- The area is particularly famous for its natural barren fabrics and glacial-shaped terrain.
- The landscape of area is characterized by lichens, pine forests and fens.
- The number of bird species found in the rugged pine woods is about one tenth of the number in more diverse and lush forests.
- The park area is part of the Rokua Unesco Global Geopark complex together with the Oulujoki Valley and Oulujärvi Niskanselkä areas. The sites in the Geopark network are geologically unique sites where geology has been incorporated into tourism and education.

- From Pookivaara, located in the heart of the Rokua, a leisurely walker finds a firefighter’s hut as his atmospheric resting place, while a dizzying adventurer climbs to the towering fireman’s tower there.
- The winding trails in the rolling terrain are ideal for hiking, running and cross-country skiing. In the Rokua area there are ski trails for everyone. By combining trails, it is possible to hike for many days in the National Park. There are several campfire sites in the national park area.
- Equally comfortable are the mountain bikes that also have their own marked route.
- The unique shapes of the lichen-covered terrain and the crystal-clear waters are gorgeous subjects for photography enthusiasts.
- Rokua National Park is excellent for families with children. There are some accessible services in the area.
