Located in Central Finland region, areas of Joutsa.

• The Park was established in 2003 and covers 31 square kilometres.
• The area is like a miniature Central Finland. The nature encompasses forests and mires, lakes, white-water rapids and stunning eskers. You can familiarise yourself with all this on nature trails in the park during a single visit.
• Joutsniemi Ridge is the best known destination in the area. It is a 1.5 km long winding esker headland formed during the glacial period. Joutsniemi Ridge is a valuable esker formation of national significance.
• The clear Rutajoki river with its foaming rapids is a hidden gem of the park. A characteristic of the Rutajoki is the occurrence of frazil ice jams every winter. They cause the water level to rise and flood the trail.
• Leivonmäki National Park is a great destination for families looking for a fun day out. The park’s nature trails are the best way to get to know the area.
• There are a total of approximately 28 kilometres of marked trails in the park. All the trails are clearly signposted, and the terrain is not very demanding. There are three circular trails as well as other routes (1.5–11 km) that run along the park’s eskers and through wetland areas and woods.
• There are campfire sites on the shores of Lake Rutajärvi in Lintuniemi and Joutsniemi. There is also a lean-to shelter for overnight stays by Soimalammi pond, or you can bring your own tent and stay at the camping sites of Harjujärvi or Lintuniemi.
• Leivonmäki National Park is suitable for visitors of all ages all year. The Harjujärvi campfire shelter and its surroundings are suitable for visitors with mobility difficulties.
