The Puijo tower

Savo’s most famous landmark, the Puijo Tower, has been known for ages as a viewing and recreation spot. Even today, the 360-view from the top of Puijon Tower captivates its visitors time and time again. The rolling terrain and the lake landscape of Kallavesi are a beautiful sight to behold at any time of the year – always showing their own way according to the four seasons. During the holiday season, you can also take the chair lift to the top of Puijo for a wonderful experience. The lower station of the chairlift is located on the left side of the ski jumps (as viewed from the ski stadium). There are free parking spaces in the area of ​​the lower station. Puijo tower is open every day, parking is also free in the tower’s courtyard parking lot.

Restaurants

Puijo Tower restaurant relies on local ingredients. Savo’s nature and producers guarantee the freshness and deliciousness of the raw materials. The goal is that the producers of raw materials coming to tower restaurant can be seen from the Puijo tower.

At Puijo Tower cafe, you can experience the best view of Kuopio and local café delicacies. The tower cafe exudes the spirit of the 60s and the flavors of the surrounding nature. The nature that opens from the windows has also been brought inside.

Puijo Cottage is an oasis in the middle of Puijon’s legal district. In addition to a place to rest, Puijo Cottage offers a refueling point during Puijo’s nature activities vacation. Healthy snacks, lunch and private events are all part of Cottages traditions. Puijo Cottage is also a great place for organizing private events. Many partys, anniversaries and weddings have been successfully celebrated at the cottage.

Activities and experiences

Efatbike rental

Go on an efatbike bike ride from Puijo tower to Puijonnokka and through Konttila farm back to the tower or some other route. In the summer, you can ride all the routes on Puijo, which are many and suitable for all levels. In winter, the mountain bike trails run by the Kuopio cycling club are a great experience.

Digital nature experiences

Family-friendly Finnish animals AR tour on Puijo’s Cottage barrier-free covered trail. A digital forest fairy tale trail is located on a 300m-long accessible route suitable for children. A completely new chillingly exciting audio tour for adults, Kalevala Awakening is a location-based mobile tour that you can experience in the heart of Puijo’s high forest. Go to the dark autumn forest to listen to a completely new kind of audio experience through your own mobile device.

Nature trails

A barrier-free nature trail with a changing theme. The route starts in front of the cottage and goes around the back of the cottage, culminating in the gift-wrapping photo spot between the cottage and the tower, where you can take pictures of your family. The route is approx. 200 meters long. The route can be experienced both during the day and in the evening, when the light works are best displayed. In addition, an approx. 300-meter-long stone ash-surfaced nature trail and an approx. 50-meter-long landscape trail surround the tower, which can also be experienced in summer and winter. Puijo also has a wonderful outdoor trail with sheds and three nature trails.

Snow tube downhill

At the top of Puijo, the super popular snow tube downhill runs to the rhythm of music in daylight and after dark also in colored lights. There are always at least two instructors in the area who take care of sending the tires from the Slider house sending stations and, if necessary, also guide the counters. Virtual ski jumping

Virtual ski jumping experience with VR glasses. You sit safely in the lower lobby of the Puijo tower on the “starting boom” and experience the ski jump of your life. The three-dimensional, authentic 130-meter jump gives rise to discussions about vacation experiences!

Meetings, recreation days and program services for groups

You can reserve Tower restaurant on weekdays for your group’s use outside of opening hours. The tower restaurant is perfectly suited for quiet meetings for smaller groups. At Cottage, your event will be a success with tasty servings and modern technology for sure! A 24-person Loimu cabinet is also available. The renovated Kuusikko sauna cabinet on the ground floor of the lodge can be rented for the whole day.
