Pohjolan Pirtti

Pohjolan Pirtti is the perfect place to organize various parties. During its history, memorable birthdays, graduations, weddings and other important events in life have been celebrated in the old, cheerful building. Pohjolan Pirtti has space for events of about 50 people. The main building was completed in 1891 and has been inhabited ever since, except for evacuation trips during the wars.

Pohjolan Kievari

Pohjolan Kievari is a restaurant and event venue built on the premises of the old Vuotunki national school. The old log walls of Kievari tell the story of the building’s many phases and uses. Pohjolan Kievari is a great place for organizing various business events and family parties throughout the year. The renovated log-walled halls have space for 80-100 people.

Sauna services

Today, the old barn building hides 3 separate saunas, which fit a total of approx. 20 to 25 people at a time. In addition, the building has two separate shower rooms and a dressing room, as well as an atmospheric fireplace room and an upstairs cabinet. Old stories and love for the Finnish sauna create the content for quality-certified sauna programs, for example, a guided Sauna Tour, during which you will learn about the history of Finnish sauna traditions and the importance of the sauna in the Finnish lifestyle.

Restaurant services

The restaurant to order prepares the best local wild food delicacies exactly according to the customer’s needs. The restaurant prefers local ingredients and wants to know where the food it serves comes from and who caught or picked it. During the high season, a summer cafe and a winter sledding cafe are available.

History & responsibility

Before the war, the village of Vuotunki was one of the most prosperous villages in Kuusamo and the only one that survived the fires of Lapland. The entrepreneurial couple is in order the eleventh generation to inhabit the space. The first stories about the farm date back to the 1680s.
