Karhu-Kuusamo Observe Brown Bears
Karhu-Kuusamo is Finland’s northernmost bear-watching location, where you can see wild bears in their own, natural habitat. We have a bear guarantee, meaning you can watch them again without any additional charge if the evening is empty. Located in Kuusamo.

Season & Facilities
- Bear watching season starts 1st of May and continues until the end of September. Each summer mother bear with cubs visiting Kuntilampi. As Kuntilampis’s name ”Bear pond” indicates, there is a small pond in the area where the bears like to bathe. There can be more than dozen bear individuals visiting Kuntilampi during a night.
- Huts are made for photographers as well as for viewers. The huts have large windows for excellent views and plenty of openings for camera lenses. Inside each hut there’s a compost toilet and in the biggest hut there’s also a gas cooker. Feeding places are about 20 to 60 meters away from the huts in order to keep them careful towards people.

The company has been working with Brown Bears since 2007. All this time their main princible has been love and respect for these wonderful animals. They don`t want to tame the bears but keep them wild in nature as they are born to be. They also like the bears to hold on for the respect towards people. To protect the bears, the company have protected over 600 hectares area.
