Accommodation

Onnela domain is one of the Sami Culture Destination. The domain and its building were built in the early 1900’s. It consists of an old dwelling house, sauna, shed and recently built log shed, dining hut, fabric hut, woodsheds and outhouses and a hot tub. Old building have been carefully renovated so that they would still carry their original spirit and authenticity.

At Onnela, jumping into a time capsule is possible as there is no electricity and the building are heated by wood in a traditional way. Water comes from the lake and it needs to be carried to the buildings to be used. There will be no electricity. But we can use aggregate power, solar power and power banks. We use lake water for washing. The beeline from Onnela to Nellim is about 20km, to Ivalo 42km and to Inari village 44km. Transportation to Onnela is either by boat or snowmobile from Nellim harbor.

Activities

Summer

The sun and the nightless night are the most startling in Lapland’s summer. The sun of the nightless night is a guest around the clock and it is at its most beautiful late at night when it sinks close to the horizon, drawing its image on the surface of the shallow lake. Summer boat trips to nearby islands to admire the blossoming of the upcoming berry harvest. Possible overnight trips staying in a tent and atmospheric swimming trips on the rocky shores of lake Inarijärvi are breathtaking mid-summer experiences.

Winter

Winter is the time to admire the sky painted by thousands of stars. The bitterly cold weather and the bright, clear sky allow the northern lights to run across the sky, enthralling the viewer. As the day dawns and the frost subsides, it’s time to pack lunch bags for the day’s adventures. Forest skis or snowshoes enable ice fishing trips to the nearby wilderness lake to catch perch.

Inari Onnela offers you individual service. To guarantee safety, the host of the farm is available throughout the visit, guiding and taking care of comfort. Onnela Customizes services individually and focusing on serving you only! All you have to do is enjoy. The services include, for example, accommodation, transport, meals, activities and hunting and fishing trips. Comprehensive service, “95% all inclusive”.

Onnela also enables trips and adventures for work groups. At the farm, you can have private meetings, bring a spark to the normal workday or spend a trip in the form of recreation days. Various group activities, excursions and evening parties can be arranged according to your wishes.
