Rajakartano is surrounded by boreal pine forest, Koitajoki river and its rapids, clean nature and the historical village of Möhkö, Ilomantsi, in North Karelia region. The closeness of the eastern border creates a mystical, silent atmosphere. This former outpost of The Finnish Border Guard has for decades guaranteed the safety and peace we still enjoy here.
Every apartment has a bathroom and either a kitchen or a kitchenette. Apartments are named after ceded Karelian villages. The kitchen offers various traditional and modern delicacies. We make our pies, pastries and breads from home grown organic spelt.
There are several national parks nearby, as well, for example Möhkön Ruukki museum, where you can get to know the history of ironworks, war events and the time when Möhkö was dependent on forest.
