(Hostel Tankar Inn) is located in the outer archipelago in the south of the Bay of Bothnia, approximately 15 km north-west of Kokkola harbour. The lighthouse is still in use, therefore the uppest part (the lantern room) is closed to the public. It was lit up for the first time on 15.10.1889.
The Lighthouse can be visited on certain days during the summer. It is managed by the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency. The island of Tankar will charm you with its rugged beauty, but the vulnerable island nature and surroundings in the outer Finnish archipelago also require caution from visitors. Soak up the atmosphere for a bit longer by staying overnight on the island. Ask more or book your visit by here.
