Accommodation

Tankavaara Gold Village offers accommodation in Kultaränni hotel rooms, Korundi apartments and Wilderness cabins all year round. The reception is located next to Old Gold Prospector restaurant.

• The newest accommodation option is the Kultaränni hotel, which has 23 double rooms and 1 single accessible room, each with its own toilet, rain shower, free wireless internet. The hotel rooms are located opposite the restaurant and were completed in 2019.
• The Korundi apartments have their own bathrooms. We have three apartments for 2 people and five apartments for 4 people with possibility for an extra bed and a mini kitchen. 4 person apartments have two bedrooms, second bedroom is upstairs.
• Wilderness cabins have been built to reflect the simple living of the gold prospectors. The toilets, showers and shared kitchen are located in a separate building close to the cabins (shared kitchen was completely renovated in October 2020). Visitors have the possibility to rent a traditional Finnish Sauna as well.
• Gold Village also has a yard camping area and electric pitches are available for campers. The campsite has a service building with washing facilities, a communal kitchen and a private sauna.

Restaurant Old Gold Prospector

In restaurant, you will find all the colourful stories and tastes from the world, but our ingredients are always from our local area, depending of the season. Recipes travel but the ingredients don’t. Enjoy the fireplace and the tastes, and let them take you back in history to the events of the Lapland gold rush. The restaurant also organizes delicious menus for groups, whether it’s weddings, workplace seminars or, for example, sauna evenings. Lunch is available daily.

Party and meeting facilities

In Tankavaara Gold Village, you can also reserve a great place for meetings and parties! Sompio-talo offers activities, food and accommodation for your event in the same area. Trainings, workshops and retreats can also be organized in the space. Facilities are suitable for different groups: the auditorium has 104 seats and the largest space is suitable for up to 200 people. The office rooms are for 5-20 people.

Activities

Even though there is snow on the ground and freezing temperatures, even deep frost does not prevent guests from trying gold panning. From Tankavaara Gold Village you can also rent snowshoes and stumpy skis, which you can use to go on a trip to the nearby Urho Kekkonen National Park. In addition, dog sledding safaris, reindeer feeding and northern lights hunting are also organized. Tankavaara Gold Village’s summer consists of events and summer activities, such as hiking, frisbee golf and various nature trips. The animal and wildlife exhibition at Sompio house combines Lapland’s nature, animals and art. The exhibition also includes the big beasts of Lapland! In summer, you can try gold panning even without a reservation!
