Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park 

Located in the areas of Enontekiö, Kittilä, Kolari and Muonio, in Lapland region.

• The park was established in 2005 and covers 1022 square kilometres.
• The area is dominated by a chain of fells about a hundred kilometers long and the taiga forests of the northern coniferous forest zone.
• The area includes all the northern forest types from Northern Finland spruce forest and Forest Lapland pine woodland to Fell Lapland birches and treeless fell tops.
• The brown bear and lynx are two of the national park’s permanent large carnivores. Both are nocturnal, passing through areas with barely a trace of their presence. 
• Area is the most popular national park in Finland. In 2019, visitor counters recorded 561,200 visits.
• There are several reasons for the popularity of the area. According to a visitor survey, visitors especially appreciate the area’s landscapes, extensive network of trails, general cleanliness and safety.
• The landscape of Pallastunturi has been chosen as one of Finland’s national landscapes.
• In the area has dozens of different hiking and skiing trails that are suitable for hikers of all levels. Along the routes you can see the nature of the national park in many ways. Some of the routes take you to the tops of the fells, and some introduce the area’s forest nature and landscapes.
• National Park covers a wide area and there are several starting points for the trails. The visitor centres provide the best advice for different parts of the park.
• Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park is suitable for inexperienced and experienced hikers, trekkers, skiers, cyclists, and for families with children. Lots of services and trails also for the disabled.
