Located in the province of Lapland, in a wonderful location on the banks of the Utsjoki river. Hotel Utsjoki is one of the northernmost hotels in Finland and is an important part of Utsjoki’s history. The hotel offers accommodation in hotel rooms located in the main building, in the atmospheric log igloo located on Teno’s beach front, or in terraced apartments located next to the hotel’s main building.
In the Alissande log igloo, high on the Tenojoki slope, you can have a unique overnight experience. The panoramic windows offer breathtaking views of Tenojoki and the fells of Finland and Norway. Log igloo is located six kilometers from Hotel Utsjoki, surrounded by nature.
The main building of the legendary Hotel Utsjoki in Ailigas wing has cozy single and double hotel rooms with private toilet and shower. There is also one suite and one accessible room for one person in Ailigas wing.
The rooms in the Paulanharju wing are located next to the main building of the Hotel along the river Utsjoki. Paulaharju is the original wing of the hotel, where there are single and double rooms. The rooms are equipped with a TV and have a private bathroom.
Fishermen’s Lodge apartments are affordable four-person cell apartments and they are located next to the hotel in the same courtyard. The apartments are intended for long-term living.
Hotel Utsjoki’s breakfast, lunch and á la carte dinner are served in a 100-seat restaurant with a wonderful view of Utsjoki and the surrounding nature. In the restaurant you can enjoy food and drink while admiring the changing landscape from the panoramic windows, sitting in the cozy lodges or enjoying the fresh air on the terrace! Food preparation and eating can also be arranged in a large hut by a live fire.
Bar Alakerta is a cozy pub that offers something for everyone. You can enjoy the summer evenings on the large terrace, and karaoke, bingo and poker will entertain customers from the early evening. You can also play billiards and darts for free!
The beach sauna is located in the hotel courtyard, right on the shore of Utsjoki. Even a larger group can enjoy relaxing in the sauna at once. The hotel’s beach sauna is openly available for rent to both hotel guests and outsiders. When you rent a beach sauna, you can use it for a four-hour time window. So enjoy in peace, taking a dip and cooling off!
The hotel’s hut is large and sheltered, in a wonderful location in Tunturi. On the hut you can admire the wonderful Norwegian fells and Tenojoki. Hut is located near Alissande log igloo, about six kilometers from Hotel Utsjoki. By car, you can reach less than a kilometer from the shed by road, after which you continue the journey on foot. The hut is for free use of the Hotel’s customers. So grab a package of sausages and a soot pan and head out to admire the beautiful nature!
Crab safari? Would you be tempted to go fishing for the prince of the ice sea, the king crab? It is possible, because through Hotel Utsjoki you can book a trip to the Arctic Ocean. The Arctic Ocean is only a 1.5-hour drive from Utsjoki, i.e. just “around the corner”.
Hiking? Elli’s path is 3.8 km long and its starting point is 2 km from Utsjoki in the direction of Karigasniemi. The route is easy to navigate and there is a daycare center and a campfire along the way. The route returns to the starting point along the same route. In addition, there are five other hiking routes in the area.
The main building of the state-built hotel was completed in 1959, just a year after the first proper road connection to the area. Before the road, Utsjoki was traveled on foot, on a reindeer ride or by boat. The first expansion of the hotel took place in 1967. Tourist fishing started in the 1960s and 1970s and it became an important livelihood and sideline for many locals.
