The history of the old school is still evident in the building—guest rooms range from the former principal’s office to the caretaker’s quarters. The grounds are also home to chickens, a rooster, and other pets.

Accommodation in a former village school

Kangaskoti offers 16 cozy, varied-sized rooms suitable for both short and long stays. The newly renovated rooms are furnished to be both cozy and practical.

Some rooms are part of shared-living units where guests have their own lockable room. Guests have access to well-equipped communal kitchens, shared toilet and shower facilities, and free, high-speed fiber-optic Wi-Fi. Rooms come with bed linen and towels, as well as a desk, an armchair, and storage space. Sauna and laundry facilities are also available at Kangaskoti, and breakfast can be ordered upon request.

The upstairs common area features games and reading materials. Self-service check-in is also available.

Nearby facilities include a barbecue hut, a woodshed, a lean-to shelter, and a campfire site. In winter, a cross-country ski track is groomed along the route, snow conditions permitting.

You can rent fatbikes at Kangaskoti, and for those seeking a more tranquil nature experience, guided forest bathing sessions are also available.

The Art Trail winds through the grounds of Kangaskoti and a neighboring business. The artworks along the trail were created during a community art camp, and their themes reflect the stories, events, and memories of former students and local residents.

Hiking in the Kinnula Area

Salamajärvi National Park is approximately 15 kilometers from Kangaskoti, and the Peuranpolku trail is about six kilometers away. Also located within six kilometers is Valkeinen—a clear-water, spring-fed lake that offers opportunities for recreational fishing.

Less than 10 kilometers away, Suomäen Ulvojat offers husky sledding and other activities.
